Pre-Qualification and Your QuickStart Checklist
Once you've decided to buy a home - and even before you've found the specific house you'd like to buy - it makes good sense to get pre-approved for your mortgage loan. A pre-approval can help you decide how much you can afford and can put you in a better bargaining position with home sellers.
The mortgage pros at American National Bank can help you start off strong. The QuickStart checklist below gives you an easy reference of the information you'll need to apply for your mortgage.
QuickStart Checklist
For All Loan Applications:
- Complete copy of Purchase Contract, signed by all buyers and sellers (Purchase Transactions)
- Original pay stub(s) covering the last 30 days, for all applicants (Continue to save pay stubs until closing)
- Original W-2 forms from the last two years, for each applicant
- Original bank statements for the past two months, for all checking and savings accounts (all pages)
- Name, address, and phone number of landlord for the last 24 months
- Original 401k and IRA statements (all pages)
- Original investment account statements for the past two months; (e.g. mutual funds) (all pages)
- Payment of loan application fee, in check (funds necessary to order appraisal and credit report)
For FHA Loans you will also need:
- Photo copy of driver's license and social security card
- Copy of Multiple Listing Property Sheet (available from your Realtor)
For VA Loans you will also need:
- Original VA Certificate of Eligibility
- Form DD-214 or, for in-service veterans, Statement of Service
- Most recent Leave and Earnings Statement (in-service veterans only)
- Name and address of child care provider (if applicable)
For NIFA Loans you will also need:
- Original Signed Tax Returns & Original W-2's from the past three years
