Our History

1887 - Establishment of The Dawson Bank
1893 - Establishment of The State Bank of Elk Creek
1915 - Establishment of Home State Bank & Trust Company

1964 - West Omaha National Bank, now American National Bank, Omaha, was established
1968 - Construction of a new branch facility for American National Bank
1971 - Second American National branch facility was opened
1980 - American National Corporation was formed and at the time, American National Bank, Omaha, became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Corporation.

1986 - Year of growth for American National Corporation (ANC)

American  National Corporation, then a publicly owned, single bank holding company, became a privately held, "multi-bank" holding company.

The State Bank of Elk Creek purchased Johnson County Bank, Tecumseh, Nebraska from the FDIC.

1989 - American National Bank of Sarpy County was established
1990 - Another year of growth for ANC

Purchases of Northern Bank, Midwest Federal Savings and Loan Association, and Heritage Federal Savings Bank were consummated. Combined assets of American National Corporation exceeded $400 million after these transactions.

1994 - American National Corporation now includes American National Bank (Omaha) which was formed when American National Bank – Omaha and Northern Bank merged; American National Bank – Nebraska City, Home State Bank and Johnson County Bank; American National Bank (Sarpy County)
1996 - American National Corporation purchases Fairbury State Bank

In 1998, all subsidiary banks merged in to the Omaha bank charter with the main office located at 90th and Dodge Streets.

1998 - The Elkhorn branch of American National Bank opened its doors
1999 - The Lakeside branch of American National Bank opened its doors
2001 - American National Bank opens in Lincoln, Nebraska
2001 - American National Bank and People's National Bank form one bank with separate identities
2004 - The Ralston branch of American National Bank opened its doors
2005 - American National Corporation purchases Residential Mortgages Services
